Our Rooted Dahlia Cuttings are grown from our own mother tuber stock. The soil/rooting media cell has dimensions of 1” square x 2 1/4” deep (the size of a 128 plug). Rooted cuttings may arrive pre-pinched.

Rooted Cuttings are an exact clone of the mother tuber they came from. Rooted Cuttings are actively growing Dahlia plants, and will flower 2 weeks sooner than a tuber of the same variety, planted at the same time. Rooted Cuttings produce tubers in their first growing season.

Rooted Cuttings can be planted out directly into garden beds in the spring, or potted up into 4" pots before planting out. Rooted Cuttings must be cared for like any other spring transplant: frost free growing conditions, adequate sunlight, and careful monitoring of moisture.

A Note on Dahlia Virus: There are viruses that are endemic to Dahlias that may or may not present symptomatically. We do not test for virus in our plants for this reason. We visually inspect our plants during the growing season, and cull any underperforming plants or plants showing any visible irregularities. Our mother tuber stock meets our standards for cut flower production on our farm.
